Pr. Gerardo Suz\u00e1n is a full-time Professor \u00ab\u00a0C\u00a0\u00bb at the FMVZ of the Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico (UNAM<\/a>), and a National Researcher SNI Level 2. His research focuses on disease ecology and One Health, with analyses developed in different countries including the USA, Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a specialist advisor to the wildlife subcommittee of the National Animal Health Committee (CONASA<\/a>), a member of the scientific committee of Future Earth<\/a>, and a co-director of the International Joint Laboratory with the Biodiversity, Deforestation and Emerging Diseases Project funded by the French Research and Development Agency (IRD<\/a>). He is also Mexico’s representative to the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES<\/a>) on Biodiversity and Pandemics.\u00a0 He is a member of the Academia Veterinaria Mexicana A.C. and the Academia Nacional de Medicina. He accounts for more than 120 publications in indexed journals and has supervised 54 theses (23 undergraduate, 20 master and 11 Ph.D.). He is also an associate editor of the Ecohealth Journal<\/a> and Veterinaria Mexico OA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerardo was the president of the Wildlife Disease Association (WDA<\/a>) for Latin America between 2017-2019 and a President and Founder of the Mexican Association of Conservation Medicine KALAANKAB, A.C. He was a member of the steering committee of Ecohealth International<\/a> from 2015 to 2020, a focal point in wildlife in Mexico for the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH<\/a>) from 2010 to 2013.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with a Master of Science (Ecology and Environmental Sciences) from Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico (UNAM<\/a>), Gerardo Suz\u00e1n holds a Ph.D. in Biology from The University of New Mexico<\/a> and a Post-Doctorate in Conservation Medicine with the Wildlife Trust<\/a> USA.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
